When a customer comes into your collision repair shop, they are probably going to be a bit flustered and upset. As a shop employee, it is your responsibility to keep them calm and offer solutions to their vehicle’s problems. A vehicle is a very important part of its owner’s life. It brings them back and forth to work, serves as emergency transport, and provides a way to get back and forth to obtain essentials such as groceries and prescriptions. Open communication and having a plan that will reassure the customer can usually ease their fears about the collision repair process. Your plan should include the following 5 steps.
5 Steps of Quality Auto Body Repair
1.Pre Scan: Your technician finds issues with the vehicle beyond cosmetic damage. The pre scan finds broken essential parts which may not be seen with the naked eye. When the technician completes the scan, you will be able to provide the customer with a more accurate estimate.
2.Review Procedures: Once all the damage has been found, your technician must review all internal protocols and manufacturer’s repair procedures. Not following the repair procedures can lead to the vehicle being repaired improperly. For example, using the incorrect tool can make the repair faulty.
3.Perform Quality Control Checks: This can be a plan created by the shop owner and staff with the purpose of the vehicle being checked completely before it is sent back to the customer. The plan can include, but is not limited to, test driving the car, inspecting the paint, and making sure all the lights work.
4.Post Scan: After quality control is complete, a post scan should be done afterwards. If the repairs are done correctly, there should be nothing found on the post scan. It just provides an extra layer of security and assurance that the repairs were done correctly.
5.Clean the Vehicle: Cleaning the car is usually the last step of quality auto body repair. It not only provides an extra way to impress the customer, it also allows them to fully inspect the repairs that have been done.
