Posted by Lauren Middleton on Mar 22nd 2020

We hope you are staying healthy and safe in the Corona Virus outbreak. Luckily, Governor Lamont has declared automotive repair as an essential industry. There are probably going to be less cars on the road for next or 2 but accidents are still bound to happen, therefore auto body shops will still stay busy. If you have employees out who are sick, things may start to get a bit chaotic in your shop. Because we want to get through this with you, our article this week will be on 5 of the most common problems brought into body shops. We hope it will help you be better prepared to handle these common problems.

1.Rear End Collisions: With people nervous and distracted from Corona Virus, there are bound to be more rear end collisions. Rear end collision repair is very tricky because often the worst damage isn’t visible to the naked eye. When preparing to repair rear end collision damage, be very diligent on closely inspecting the problem areas.

2.Car Vandalism: With people out of work and school, there is probably going to be an uptick in crime. Vandalism on cars can occur in many ways. The vehicle could be scratched, dented, covered in graffiti, and more. Be sure to capture any of the damage by photo in case a criminal investigation occurs.

3.Dents: Dents happen all the time and can be caused by many things besides humans. From tree limbs to hail, they are a very common auto body problem. Luckily, they are often easy to fix and don’t require a lot of prep work to do so. When fixing the dent, be sure to check for other damage such as missing paint.

4.Front End Collisions: These collisions can cause extensive damage. Not only does the hood of the vehicle usually get damaged but the bumper, headlights, grill, and fenders may often become damaged as well. Like rear end collisions, you have to look very closely for hidden damage that can’t be seen without close inspection.

5.Painting: Customers may come into your shop for a variety of paint related requests. It could be damage from an accident, or someone may want to have rust spots repaired and painted. Planning is key to successful paint job. Try to get information on the vehicle before it comes in. It is also good to know the amount of paint you will need and if possible, the shade of it.
